RMD maintains the design philosophy that “small” outdoor spaces present a unique creative opportunity, which if properly executed can maximize the potential of any size yard.

The above statement definitely applies to the Henry project in San Clemente. At the time of the initial design consultation with Ray, the Henry's expressed an interest in having a highly functional and versatile outdoor space to coincide with their vision. Their "wish list" consisted of the following: Some level of outdoor BBQ space, A water feature, Fire pit , Seating areas , a wood deck space and spaces for trees and plantings. They weren't at all sure that was possible within the given area ; However, Ray assured the Henry's that not only was it possible but it could be accomplished in a very creative way that would properly showcase each of the above elements as a beautiful unique piece of Art which would contribute in a signature way to the overall experience. The final result was a back yard environment featuring beautiful custom outdoor BBQ with Elevated Bar counter, a Beer Tap , Spacious Food Prep and Serving Area , Custom integrated Steel Overhead Structure and Natural Quartzite Stone Counters . Adjacent spaces feature : Custom Built Fountain with Handmade Copper Spillway and Glazed Spanish Tile Motifs , Spacious IPE Wood Deck , Custom Limestone Veneered Fire Table , Custom Built Two Way Masonry Bench Seating with IPE Wood Table . Lastly , The backyard has beautiful planters at varied elevations with plant varieties that are perfectly suited to the Clean Modern Mediterranean Inspired Design Style.

This completed coastal project has a very open fluid relaxed feel and is and well suited for entertaining larger groups or presenting a more intimate setting.
